Strong parcel volume growth offset declines for letters to drive an overall increase in postal revenue in 2020, resulting in a 3% increase in total revenue for An Post.

The post reported that parcel volumes grew by more than two thirds, while strong packet volume growth helped slow the decline in domestic mail volumes to less than 1%. Overall, e-commerce service volumes doubled from 2019 to 2020. The post expanded its workforce by more than 7% to meet increased packet and parcel demand, while more than 700 new electric vehicles were added to its fleet to ensure sustainable parcel delivery.
